Ron Blum, O.D. is a visionary, innovator and businessman. He established multiple companies focused on Optics and Ophthalmics in North America such as BeautiEyes LLC, Encore Health and Encore Vision LLC, PixelOptics, Innotech, PogoTec, and The Egg Factory.

Dr. Ron Blum founded in 1977 Drs. Blum, Newman, Blackstock & Associates. By the time of Dr. Blum's departure in 1992, Drs. Blum, Newman, Blackstock & Associates, Optometrists, and P.C. had grown to be one of the largest multi-location private professional optometric practices in the Southeastern United States. Dr. Ron Blum also led and managed the team that invented and developed the Definity (Progressive Addition Lens). The Definity Lens was acquired in 2005 by Essilor (the largest lens manufacturer in the world) and quickly became at that time the number one selling digitally surfaced progressive addition lens in North America.

The Egg Factory, another company founded by Dr. Blum in 1999, is one of the oldest and most prolific innovation companies focused on Optics and Ophthalmics in North America. Since approximately 2014 The Egg Factory is that of a holding company. The company presently owns equity positions in its Eggs (young companies).

Four of the Eggs of The Egg Factory have been acquired or licensed by Global Billion Dollar Companies; Encore Health and Encore Vision LLC (merged in 2016 and the merged entity was purchased in early 2017 by Novartis), IP of Refine Focus was acquired by Essilor in 2015, High Performance Optics IP was licensed to Essilor in 2013, and Innotech (was purchased out of the NASDAQ in 1996 by Johnson & Johnson). Following Egg Factory becoming a holding company in 2014, Dr. Blum founded two new companies. PogoTec Inc. and BeautiEyes LLC. At present, Dr. Ron Blum works as the Chief Visionary Officer for PogoTec, Inc., a company that develops electronic wearable devices for eye wear.
